Instructions and conflicts
Your enquiry is directed to the practice desk that will handle it. We run a conflict check before anything else, then take instructions at a scheduled conference and confirm the scope of the work in writing.
Kano NG · Est. 1985
PL. 01 / Kano
The firm was established in Kano in 1985 and has practised from the same city since. That continuity is the reason we read Northern Nigerian commercial and civic matters in their own context.
We are a general practice. Instructions run from contract and employment work for companies through to criminal defence and family matters for individuals, and the same partners see a matter from the first conference to judgment.
The firm's three principal areas. Each is supported by the same litigation capability rather than run as a separate department.
The firm works to a fixed sequence, whatever the area. It is set out here so you know what happens after you make contact.
Your enquiry is directed to the practice desk that will handle it. We run a conflict check before anything else, then take instructions at a scheduled conference and confirm the scope of the work in writing.
We work from the documents up: contracts, correspondence, corporate filings, electoral materials, or the record of proceedings, depending on the matter. Where a point turns on expert evidence, we say so early rather than late.
You receive a written view of the position, the options open to you, and what each involves in time and procedure. Where a matter is better settled or referred to arbitration than litigated, that is the advice you get.
A partner remains responsible for the file through to its conclusion. You are told what stage the matter has reached and what the next step is, without having to ask.
The rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria is conferred by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee. The firm's practice is led by a holder of that rank. Complex matters receive direct oversight from the senior end of the practice.
Enquiries are directed to the practice desk that will deal with them. If your matter is subject to a statutory time limit, say so in your first message.
